Jim Smith

Interim Chief Executive Officer

Jim Smith has served as our interim chief executive officer since August 2011 and as our president and chief operating officer since January 2009. Throughout his career Mr. Smith has led global companies and mid-sized venture companies through major change and innovation cycles. Prior to Motricity Mr. Smith served as the General Manager of a global business unit at Avaya focused on contact centers expanding the business boundaries to new areas including analytics and multimedia service while increasing market share and profitability. Mr. Smith joined Avaya in 2001 and held various leadership roles in sales, product management and strategic planning. In 1999, Mr. Smith co-founded Vector Development, an e-commerce company, which worked with numerous large retailers and CPG companies to digitally market available resources throughout the supply chain using an internet ecosystem. Earlier in his career, from 1989 to 1999, Mr. Smith held several positions at Accenture working with companies across a range of industries including retailers, technology, insurance and healthcare and was most recently an associate partner. Mr. Smith graduated with honors from Columbia University and Juniata College with degrees in engineering and finance.
